About the Speaker
Dr. Naomi Jay, RN NP PHD
Asst Prof of Medicine Department of Infectious Diseases (volunteer appointment)
UCSF
Dr. Jay is among a very select group of medical providers and researchers who pioneered the field of Anal Neoplasia. She championed development of diagnostic techniques, treatments, and strategies for prevention of anal cancer. These developments culminated in the ANCHOR study outcomes published in 2022, which provided the definitive results validating that treatment of anal precancers prevents cancer. As a national team leader in the study, she developed quality assurance metrics for evaluating and certifying competency in HRA and treatment of anal lesions.
Dr. Jay was a founding board member of the International Anal Neoplasia Society (IANS) and while serving as president, she initiated a task force to develop Screening Guidelines for Anal Cancer Prevention which provided the first published international guidelines for anal cancer prevention. She has served as co-director of the IANS Standard and Advanced HRA courses and previously for the ASCCP and ASCRS.
The need to increase access to HRA through educating new providers is now her primary focus. She is involved in training initiatives through the AIDS Malignancy Consortium of the NIH and continues to work with IANS and other organizations to develop curriculum and training innovations.
She is recognized internationally for her expertise in the field and is sought after as a mentor, speaker and educator. She is fondly known as the Tushie Queen.
