Andreia Albuquerque, MD PhD

Andreia Albuquerque is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Associate Professor based in Porto, Portugal. She is a member of the Precancerous lesions and early cancer management research group RISE@CI-IPO (Health Research Network) from the Portuguese Oncology Institute of Porto (IPO-Porto), Portugal. Her primary research interests include the early detection and prevention of anal cancer.
Dr. Albuquerque has authored over 80 publications in peer-reviewed journals, with lead authorship in journals as the The Lancet Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Journal of Crohn’s and Colitis, Clinical Infectious Diseases, British Journal of Cancer, and the International Journal of Cancer.
She serves on the Board of the International Papillomavirus Society (IPVS), is a member of the IPVS Education Committee, and chairs the IPVS Social Media Committee. Dr. Albuquerque was also the chair and organizer of the first edition of the IPVS Human Papillomavirus-Related Anogenital Diseases Course for Clinicians (IPVS PACC) and the High-resolution Anoscopy Workshop at IPVC 2024.
