The University of Queensland

Dr Chandra is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Queensland (UQ), Frazer Institute. After completing a MSc in Germany and a PhD in Experimental Immunology at the University of Zurich in Switzerland, she specialised in professional antigen-presenting cells and their roles in immunity and disease. She joined UQ in 2012 as a postdoctoral fellow in Prof. Ian Frazer’s team, investigating immune suppression in HPV-associated cancers. From 2015 to 2019, she served as Senior Scientist at Admedus Vaccines, leading preclinical vaccine development programs that progressed to clinical trials for the treatment of genital herpes and HPV-mediated mucosal squamous cell carcinoms. Since returning to UQ in 2019, and establishing her own laboratory in 2023, her research has focused on immune and microbiome modulation in cutaneous and mucosal squamous cell cancers, with the aim to discover new therapeutic targets and strategies.
