Carmella is a Sexual Health Physician who is currently working in research at St Vincent’s Hospital. Her current projects include:
- Site Principal Investigator for the SPANC, a longitudinal study of HPV disease in mature aged men who have sex with men: kirby.unsw.edu.au/project/spanc
- Clinical Investigator for the SPACE treatment study of pomalidomide used in the treatment of persistent anal precancers
She is an active member of the International Anal Neoplasia Society (IANS) contributing to their training courses and publications.
Carmella has had a longstanding interest in HPV associated disease, particularly in the area of anal cancer prevention. She sees patients at higher risk of developing anal cancer and is keen to work with GP and specialists to advance detection and management of anal cancer precursors within the community.
